The debate between the humanists and mechanists over intelligent machines has been revived by the development of computers and computer science (Halbersta, 1991). The invention of thinking machines inspires religious indignation and intellectual disbelief on the suspicion about the military implications of the automated technology. Cybernetics technology produces two major concerns. First, it induces the idea that computers simulate human thoughts when taught. Secondly, that automated robots are capable of being wired to replace the human labor force in the work place. Thus, cybernetic debate appears to follow particular gender lines of body split. The split between body and mind as demonstrated by feminist theory identifies men with intellect, reason, and thought, and women with emotion and intuition (Halbersta, 1991).
Through this, many expect that computer intelligence enhance binary splits, thus dominating the reasons and logics over irritation. However, the unseen boundaries that separate mind, body, and machines are very legacy on the cybernetics, thus providing new grounds of argument about gender and its representations evidently technological inventions. Within a patriarchal system, technophobia is understandably a response to military and scientific abuses among women. The advent of intelligent and automated machines alters the social relationship between gender, science, feminism, and politics of artificiality. As theorized by Donna Harraway, a central symbol such as the Apple computer logo illustrates the productive and important interactions between and across gender, feminism, and science (Halbersta, 1991).
Through this, it becomes a clever icon of digitalization of creation myths in that the knowledge, sin, and the forbidden Garden of Eden’s fruits a...
