Comparative Architectural Designs
Architect Gion Ponti designed the Pirelli Tower in 1950. The building has a height of one hundred and twenty-seven meters and has thirty-one floors. It is one of the tallest buildings that consist of concrete reinforcements. The building located in Italy is an embodiment of the ideals of expressionism (William 54). The Pirelli Tower expresses an innovative use of construction materials and rises from a pentagonal base. The site plan for the building consists of two spectacular polygons erected side by side and separated by a central corridor that tapers upwards. The effect of the unique architectural execution is a diamond-like surface of the inner gallery.
