Development of the production, trade and media has led to the fact that in the middle of the XX century in developed countries was emerged consumer society with particular popular culture. Pop Art reflected these cultural trends and intensively developed a new direction in the modern art.Formation of Pop Art took place mainly in the framework of the fine arts (painting, drawing and sculpture), but later it began to influence the other arts: cinema and pop music. While in England, Pop Art was based on the theoretical discussion of the phenomenon of contemporary culture, in the United States Pop Art arose spontaneously under the influence of the internal situation in the art world. American Pop Art was born as a rejection of abstract expressionism. In 1951 was published an anthology of Dada, and methods of Dada such as collage, combining real objects on the canvas, as well as "ready-made" objects became a reference point for destroying the borders between art and reality. The founders of the new trend in American art were Robert Rauschenberg and Jasper Johns. Rauschenberg created a so-called "composite picture" in the style of abstract expressionism.
Commodity fetishism and ideology of equal opportunities in the US led to the fact that since the late 1950s, Pop Art was widespread in American art. Pop Art emerged in the capitalist society where the production and consumption of material goods was paramount. The spirit of freedom in the 1950-60ies contributed to the emergence of a special, extraordinary art movement. Pop Art was directly linked to the rapid development with media, because media in mid-twentieth century have become an integral element of social development. Advertising also was an important part of communications, it was a financial instrument for the media budgets, and a source of artistic ideas and images of Pop Art. Advertising was a structural element of mass culture. It was a type of culture that stimulated the development of Pop Art. Mutual influence of aesthetics of Pop Art and advertising is an additional creative idea, that carries elements of originality and attractiveness. Advertising is based on socio-cultural factors, influences on the development of economic, social and public relations, and involves primarily the desired messages to the target audience, which significantly increases the efficiency of investment. Artists rehabilitated world of beauty in their works and they showed pride that America's trade has created products, which are always cheap, good and equally accessible. Their art was a monument of goods and social equality, because when we use the product, we identify ourselves with this product. In Pop Art artists used "image" of popular culture to fit within a different context, zoom. In this regard, artists ironically reinterpreted and surprisingly transformed the original image.
The relationship of advertising and Pop Art is very strong and meaningful, as well as two-way: Pop Art confirms not only affects the art of advertising, but advertising can influence of art. The combination of advertising and Pop Art has become a certain kind of direction in art. Pop Art very often connected to opposite tendencies of art and commercial, which seem to be so only at first glance. It should be noted that the world of consumption in Pop Art was revolutionized. In terms of content, composition and aesthetics Pop Art was not only an art, but a new attitude that affected the material side of life. In addition, analysis of the relationship of Pop Art and advertising makes it possible to more deeply understand the process of development of the advertising industry and popular culture in general. The expressiveness of Pop Art and ironic focus on the methods and techniques can involve the "average man" in consumption that can be based on the emotional and sensory perception.
Also Pop Art came into fashion, and it became used for commercial purposes. Artistic design solutions used give emotional richness to any article, which was necessary to convey to the consumer. Pop Art used composite solutions that synthesized style and advertising ideas. Sponsored circulations gave prominence of a particular brand, they reincarnated into a brand. The works of Pop Art built on the principles of advertising either directly stylized work for advertising.
