However, a vast majority of scholars agree that globalization refers to the phenomenon that occurs around the globe where nations forge relationships with one another leading to the spreading of then western culture as well as digital insurgency. Ideally, globalization has led to the globe getting smaller thus facilitating the free flow of capital, goods, ideas and more specifically to this article, people as well as information (Barbara 57). Furthermore, as a result of the advancements of technologies such as information technology, globalization has made some conventional notions held dearly by politicians some decades ago such as the sovereign nation-state increasingly irrelevant. On the other hand, despite an internationally agreed upon definition of the term terrorism, the term has some elements that are agreed upon by almost everyone and include noncombatant targets, violence, political aims as well as spreading fear via intimidation. Such speculations have been the subject of numerous discourses around the world by critics and scholars. One of the sets comprises of advanced industrialized nations who benefit from the globalization trends. As a result, such nations are in the position to weigh in on political issues globally. However, this extends to seeking more political positions of power internationally thus resulting to greater influence for the rules of the globalization games. Some of the nest examples of these nations include the United States of America, Canada, the United Kingdom as well as France. Ideally, these nations have the industrial infrastructure necessary for survival and excel in such commercial atmosphere by providing goods and services to other developing and underdeveloped countries that lack such developed infrastructures (Joseph 45). On the other hand, the other set of nations comprises of those countries lacking such developed infrastructure to fully compete on the international arena. Some of the reasons why the second set of countries lack such infrastructures is because the developed countries utilize this nations as a source of raw materials due to the underdevelopment or the multinational corporations found in the first set of nations operate and own the technologies and utilize them for the sole benefit of their corporations as opposed to benefiting the nation hosting the technology in use.
As a weapon used by the weak against the strong, terrorism acts a key role in the provision of motivation to the cause of terrorism whether to the nations on the lower end of international powers or the numerous non-state entities such as Hamas, al-Qaeda, Boko Haram, or Hezbollah. One of the notable reasons for the terrorism activities around the globe is the LDCs lack of success in the global marketplace.
