Age and gender play an integral role in the acceptance of technology than other social aspects do. For example, males prefer technology that reveals their prowess to other people in the society. For, example, it is common to find men with high-tech vehicles and other devices that outsmart those of their peers. On the other hand, women prefer technologies that improve the quality of their lives. For instance, women would rather purchase a washing machine than a high-tech car because they believe that the latter is less beneficial that the former. On the same note, young people love technology for show off to their peers. Moreover, teenagers prefer technologies that enhance their interactions with colleagues such as social networking. On the contrary, older and career-oriented persons prefer technology that advances their performance of their tasks. However, culture influences the choice of technology that people would wish to have; for example, conservative cultures dislike any technology that would enhance the proliferation of immoral behaviors in the people such as use of vulgar language and premarital sex.
Technology improves people’s quality of lives by providing better devices to aid in task performance. Microwaves are faster and more efficient to use for busy people who wish to have a quick home-prepared meals. On t...
