Most people have had a chance to speak in public with the intention to deliver a particular message or theme. But for an individual to be an efficient public speaker, one has to develop various characteristics as advised by Chris Anderson. This book expounds on how to be an effective public speaker. From the book, I have captured five major ideas that will help me establish my future presentations; make them appealing, informative and enjoying to deliver.
Anderson says that it is best to start the presentation with a connection. A connection is a solid foundation for a good presentation. It captures the concentration of the audience since it makes the audience feel relevant. It is an idea that the audience runs with during the entire presentation as it should be a basic knowledge that most people are familiar with. The connection can be a law of nature of a statement that can’t be refuted beyond any reasonable doubt. That way, the audience always bears in mind what you are telling them is true. Anderson emphasis on the tone while kicking off a conversation with the audience. He urges the presenter to articulate a high level of integrity so that the audience can be listening consciously.
