Critique of out of class speech about self-control ad leading a holy Life When I was turning 18 years old, I saw an advertisement in the media that a man of God from California, pastor Winfred was preparing a three days youth seminar in his church New Life Ministry. The seminar was about self-control and how to live a holy life. Since I was young, I had a desire to lead a spiritual life, and this was not an ordinary seminar but an event that I was sure would change my life. In fact, it came to me on a train that comes one in a lifetime and for sure I could not have let it pass by me. Pastor Winfred was very much organized. His order of the speech was well organized that I thought he had spent all his lifetime working on it. He systematically and precisely stated how God expects His children to live from birth to death. The content of his speech was bodacious. He played around what the seminar was all about without wandering away. He said that it was always the will of God for his people to live a holy life, but that is not what is happening today. People keep on sinning every day and even though there are men of God, who preach for a spiritual life, it falls on deaf ears to most people. He also said that self-control is the key to a holy life, and we as youths should practice it. He also stated that God is so different from human beings because He forgives all sins no matter how bad they are and so people must be willing to repent their sins. The speech delivery was so excellent that I thought he had spent a whole month doing the rehearsal for the same. His tonal variation was just incredible. He taught with zest and gave live examples where necessary. He also gave examples of his youth life and how terrible it was before surrendering his life to Christ. He was audible enough, and everyone could hear him with ease. On the other hand, pastor Winfred had some weaknesses in the organization of his speech. The speech had no introduction and conclusion. In fact, after reading the title, he went directly to the body, and we never realized he was concluding until he requested us to stand for a word of prayer. The content of his speech was not favorable to the underage. The seminar was specifically for the youths, but there were few underage people in our midst. His explanation especially in sex life was not meant for everyone in the seminar....
