Burger Corner is experiencing a problem caused mainly by the construction of the new supermarket, which is a competitor and the change in market economy. Burger Corner on the other hand has an advantage due to its location next to the campus, which means that students will always look for a spot for having food. The solutions geared to improve the performance of the restaurant should be oriented towards promoting its strengths and minimizing the weaknesses.
The location of the burger shop allows it to be student friendly and attractive to commuters. It has a seating space unlike the supermarket therefore the management could rearrange the layout to make it welcoming to seat in as groups or as individuals. The supermarket lacks a friendly setup where customers can relax and share some quality time as they eat. Burger Corner can maximize on this opportunity to help it attract a wider number of customers who need some friendly set up as they eat.
Burger Corner also allows only services for food customers; therefore, if they are able to improve on the delivery of the services to the customers they will have solved problems of some customers. As a restaurant, they can keep tabs of the flow of customers so that they can prepare well for the peak times. Some of the reviews claimed that their service was slow especially during lunchtime. The restaurant can prepare food during the low peak seasons and ensure that they have adequate and speedy services during the peak. Interestingly, since students are the majority customers, they get a break during lunch hour then it is a clear indicator that lunch hours are peak times.
Adequate delivery of services by the Burger Corner cannot be achieved without proper-trained staff. As much as it may be an expensive process to train new staff, it is a requirement to have customer friendly staff. This can be by changing the criteria of hiring new employees by identifying people who have a friendly and hospitable personality. Waitstaff also need to be swift in delivering orders per table and this is easy to test during the hiring process. Unless the hotel management changes the staff, it might cost them a large number of customers.
