Student Conduct Policy
The student conduct code sets out several expectations designed to give back the culture of the university community. In contrast, everyone who seeks knowledge still reveals respect and integrity for others. It assures that students' rights are exercised and respected while authorizing the enforcement of the code (Catalogs, pp3). The community members are responsible for ensuring that their behavior aligns with the code. Therefore, this paper provides detailed information on the purpose of policies and the importance of policies within the university.
The code applies to student conduct on any leased, owned or activity supported by the university. According to the code, students are responsible for their choices and actions. The regulations include; the university does not discriminate people on sex-based while offering educational benefits, educational benefits, and or programs (Catalogs, pp 10). Instead, the university is more committed to maintaining a favorable environment for everyone. Students can thus learn and work in an environment that is discrimination-free. Furthermore, it ensures that the domain is safe secure from gender-based violence. Hence, all interactions and interpersonal relationships are grounded upon open communication and mutual respect.
Sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, and domestic violence are all prohibited conduct. Such conduct violates integrity and individual dignity; thus, any form of violation of such behavior will not be tolerated by law in the university (Catalogs, pp5). This type of policy applies to all contractors, visitors, and university employees. The standards must apply regardless of gender or sexual orientation (Catalogs, pp6). Also, discrimination conduct prohibits reporting false complaints knowingly. Thus, any individual that makes false complaints knowingly is subjected to punishment by the university authority.
Understanding the policies of the university is vital. Policies ensure everyone within the university, including the employees, are connected and work effectively due to the established procedures and rules. Policies help students to know their responsibilities. Students have the responsibility to protect and respect the rights of every individual within the institution. Students must understand that for every action they do, there is a repercussion behind it (Catalogs, pp26). Therefore, they become fully aware of the consequences of violating university policies. Also, knowing university policies help students to understand the effects of their actions on the university. Hence, it becomes easier for students to follow the university policies and be disciplined.
Having policies regarding the student's behavior within the university is essential. Policies help a university create standard qualities for the teaching and learning of students. Policies usually provide guidelines of what is expected by every student and worker within the university. Thus, the university can create standard qualities for teaching and learning of both workers and students. In addition, policies set out accountability and expectations (Catalogs, pp30). Policies provide clear guidelines about what the university expects from every school member, for example, prohibition from discrimination. Hence, the university expects no discrimination
