Answer One:
Conspicuous consumption is the belief that an individual can obtain membership in the upper class by purchasing material goods and services (Ott and Mack 149). A media example is the "I am Rich" iPhone app, which a customer bought at the cost of $999.99. By owning the app, the individuals' lifestyle appears to be luxurious as compared to the viewers' life. The idea blinds the majority of the people from understanding the actual meaning of owning wealth. Conspicuous consumption solidifies class distinctions. Advertising industries deeply embrace the belief of conspicuous uses under the pretext of customer selection promoting ideology of class.
