Epic of Gilgamesh - "All the gods are Within You"
The relationship between gods and people in The Epic of Gilgamesh is obvious and strong. The gods seem to still exist in the vicinity of man. The Epic of Gilgamesh reveals that humans often find themselves at the mercies of gods. Any time the gods see a human walking away from their fate, they have to interfere, which justifies Joseph Campbell's quote: "All the gods are within you." In this poetry, several topics are posed epically: the fear of death, the ability to have unbelievable powers, rule everyone in the world, a road to full tragedy, or required knowledge and measures leading to success or failure. In this job, the focus would definitely be paid to God's role in the lives of ordinary people. Mostly the Epic of Gilgamesh, which is called an epic poem, shows God's true nature and love for mankind and proves that the existence of Enkidu, as opposed to the cruelness of Gilgamesh, has some sort of catch that makes gods obtain more control over humans. The Epic of Gilgamesh discovers the epic poem, the true nature of gods, and their affectionate regard for man.
Gods agreed to create "the courageous Enkidu/born in Secrecy, dotted with the might of Ninurta" to support humanity and to save them from dreadful and strong Gilgamesh. “Gilgamesh, where are you hurrying to? You will never find that life for which you are looking. When the gods created man they allotted to him death …” (Sandars 30). Such a judgment, though, maybe premeditated and shows the selfishness of gods. You create a wild beast to keep anyone else from becoming more formidable than gods: you create a hero for people who will threaten the proud Gilgamesh; you create another slave, who will eventually serve you.
