The key message that Regina sends to the readers is the idea that despite any difficult moment in life, all of us can succeed. She also informs the readers of the value of family bonding. She and her four siblings lived a hopeless life in their childhood. They never knew their biological fathers. Their mother was an absentee, depressed woman who always abused them.
