The presentation of arguments in the popular media has shaped the perception of socio-political ideologies in the society. The media has been used to represent socio-political and cultural behavior through the use of humor, satire, analogies and parody. These elements hence influences the way people perceive critical issues during interaction.
* A Satirical analogy of Prisoner Laughter
The use of satire is evident in the article, CBS Sitcoms Under Fire For Using Prison Laughter. The satire targets prisoners who are forced to watch CBS Sitcom comedy and laugh while the media establishment makes a live recording. The use of prison laughter demeans the prisoners since they are portrayed as individuals who can be easily manipulated to satisfy the needs of business corporations. The use of satire to present a particular message therefore plays an integral role in shaping how the people perceive the social group that has been portrayed in the satire. The use of prison laughter is an analogy since it compares the prisoners to machines that can be easily manipulated to undertake desired operations.
