In the history of sonnets, Giacomo da Lentino plays a vital role as the first writer in about 1230s. Shakespeare 15 years later became one of the most famous sonnet writers composing his songs in more than 20 years. One of the most prominent themes in Shakespeare’s sequence is the mutability and the transience of human life. This piece aims at outlining the various ways through which Shakespeare’s “The Fair Youth” describes the extent of the immortality of the humans is. He outlines the fact that time makes beauty and at the same time fades it away and it paradox rather than a fixed expression of belief (Shakespeare, 10).
