Community Health Advocacy project Name Institution Introduction Public health is an important community practice in a society. Mostly, the practice focuses on promoting the health condition of a given community. In the promotion process, the practice prevents diseases and improving the community’s access to healthcare intended to promote equality among all society members. On the other hand, within the community, while improving the member’s access to healthcare, community health nurses control the interrelation between the community population and disease prevalence in the society. There are three important levels of disease [prevention used by the community health nurses (primary, secondary and tertiary levels). The paper is a project proposal addressed to a local health board on a community health advocacy project (Kulbok, 2012). Part one- overview of the health initiative The healthcare initiative program focuses on promoting educational information to people living with Asthma in Maricopa County Arizona (Kulbok, 2012). Currently, pediatric Asthma is among the leading emergency causes in the county. However, after diagnosis of the health condition, it appears as the most preventable and easy in controlling among the other emergency health conditions in the county. The project is a community health education aimed at equipping the Maricopa County Arizona’s population with information on the prevention methods. Children below seventeen years are at greater risks of suffering from the health disorder condition. Healthcare access is an important prevention tool while controlling with the condition. The project proposes different methods of dealing with the condition in the region. Based on an earlier conducted questionnaire, the initiative program will educate the community on the needs of improving their access to healthcare services. As a primary prevention technique of pediatric Asthma in the region, community education on the importance of visiting their healthcare centers can aid in saving aggregate children below 17 years (Mosayebi, 2011). Part 2- program need Pediatric Asthma as an emergency disorder in the region has most of its prevalence in children below 17 years. Data collected from the research carried out indicates that approximately 12.63% of children below 17 years living in Maricopa County Arizona had an encounter with the disorder. On the other hand, it reveals that approximately 6,273 children below 17 years were in the emergency department in Maricopa County Arizona. More so, while dealing with the health condition, access to healthcare services is another action plan for the project. The research revealed that approximately 23.7% children below 18 years do not have primary health care providers (Mosayebi, 2011). Furthermore, a national survey indicates that an approximate of 58.7% of children below 18 years miss school due to Asthma. Lastly, nationally, there is a high requirement of daily medication on the children suffering from Asthma. Consequently, the community in Maricopa County Arizona requires the initiative program aiming at controlling the prevalence of the condition on children below 18 years. On the other hand, on the research data, access to healthcare services is another limiting factor to control prevention of pediatric Asthma on children below 18 years. As a result, there lies an importance of educating the parents on importance of increasing their children’s access to healthcare services. Lastly, education to nurses can aid in highlighting on the individual limiting policies that increase the prevalence of the disorder in the society is crucial on nurses as they can easily interrogate in controlling these individual factors (Healthy People, 2014). Part 3- projected impact As hi8ghlighted earlier, the project anticipates top control the prevalence of pediatric Asthma in Maricopa County Arizona. Consequently, it will aim at reducing the number of children below 17 years suffering from the health disorder. Apparently, it anticipates reducing the number of children suffering from the condition by 2% by June 2015. High emphasis will be on children without an insurance cover. Through disease awareness, the project will increase primary prevention where it will reduce risk factors in the area. Thereby it will help in managing the disorder from attacking other susceptible children (Healthy People, 2014). In addition, the project objects to increase the children suffering from pediatric Asthma access to healthcare services. As highlighted earlier, comprehensive access to healthcare services is crucial in controlling the disorder. Therefore, school-based health clinics can aid in increasing the children’s access to healthcare services in Maricopa County Arizona. School clinic will improve secondary and tertiary prevention of the disorder. It will aid in early detection of the disorder in children below 17 years and as well give appropriate treatment during the early stages of the disorder. In promoting tertiary prevention, the project will emphasize in providing late clinical care to the children with Asthma complications (Kulbok, 2012).
