Book Review on Education
In the article, the author writes about how the climate is destroyed ironically by learned individual with high-ranking qualifications. He further criticizes the education system for teaching theoretically rather than values. Orr David criticizes how the education being taught is the foundation of ignorance to the climatic woes. However, he justifies himself saying that he is not against education, he is against the problem of education. It is uncommon for writers to critic education since it has revolutionized our existence. Nevertheless, David Orr in his book decided to look where writer choose to ignore. Moreover, we all know education is not all that perfect it has his dark sides too. Nonetheless, after reading his article my perception, in terms of how we humans have destroyed our ecology has shifted.
Consequentially, the author blames the ignorance that human beings cannot overlook to be the root cause of the entire problem. He goes further to assert that scholars and their inventions tend to concentrate much on the benefits they obtain rather than its harmful effect to the ecology. Our interests have however conflicted with those of the ecosystem. Although knowledge is increasing gradually, it does not necessarily means increase in wisdom. Humans have developed in almost all fields except those related to land health.
