In addition to the complex social environment in schools, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) learners have other obstacles to deal with. Harassment of LGBT learners is a significant worry for tutors and although the education system has evolved over the years, individuals harass their fellows that appear to be different. LGBT individuals are often singled out for victimization both physically and verbally. When this happens more often, it leads to absenteeism, and even other LGBT students drop out altogether.
