Marla in Larry David book the contest sees sex as a sign of love and friendship which she shares with Jerry. She believes her being a virgin is a sign of incomplete love. It makes Marla request Jerry to have sex with her. She believes sex will make their relationship better. However, Jerry refuses to have sex with her citing that they have a contest. Marla sees the move by Jerry as betrayal and vows never to talk with him. In addition, Marla believes that lack of sex after a romance session troubles the partners. This is clearly where she tells Jerry he must have had lots of difficulties after the kissing session.
Her anger is vividly clear where we get to see her angrily telling Elaine she doesn’t want anything to do with him and his friends, a sign that she feels let down by the male. Marla believes that sex is a basic need for all persons she sees that Jerry too must be interested in sex and fall for her. The contested issue and lack objection of jerry to sec make Marla believe that she made a wrong choice in dating Jerry as he doesn’t demonstrate manhood.
