Personal Reflection: Live Tweeting
The Value of Live Tweeting
Live tweeting gives insights of the public participating concerning the hashtag in question. It has become ubiquitous and common within the contexts of a movie or a series release. During my live tweeting session, I realized it is the pulse of big events given the high levels of activity from millions of Twitter users watching the shows. As a marketing platform, the application can help organizations raise their brand awareness and augment attention from their target audience (Dawley 3).
Live tweeting is additionally useful in crisis communication. As soon as a disaster strikes, those affected as well as relevant stakeholders get a notification and jump in to assist victims. A good example is one of Pepsi commercials in which the company showed Kendall Jenner giving a police officer a Pepsi thus creating a boundary between the police and protestors (Rose 6). The act was funny, but it trampled on social justice resulting in an uproar from consumers and the general public. The company was forced to take down the video and make a public apology.
Second Screen Experiences Changing the Practice of Watching Television
The convenience of portability has made second screen experience significant and replaced the traditional first screen experience. In this modern age, through your smartphone, tablet, or PC, you can quickly get to watch the content accessible through the first experience screen while at the same time have enjoying the functionality of social media interactions. As a marketing strategy, first screen (TVs) producers, as a result of this technological revolution, have even been forced to produce digital screens that offer the same capabilities as the second screens (PCs, tablets, and smartphones). Many radio stations have turned to online broadcasting to reach significant masses of audience across the globe (Poltrack 5). Second Screens are also much more affordable for many as opposed to first screens making it vastly adopted.
My Level of Connection from Live Tweeting
As opposed to just watching a movie with friends, live tweeting makes one feel much more connected as this kind of connection goes beyond physical constraints. Live tweeting enables one to appeal to broad audience. One has a chance to connect to over 400 viewers, as in the instance with allegations against Brett Kavanaugh. The high level of social media etiquette whereby viewers make few sensible posts illustrates that every other person feels that this form of interaction was significant.
Twitter Reactions and Hashtags
The tweets I posted did not generate as much response. To engage other viewers, I ensured to like their tweets, reply to them, and tweet something related to their viewpoints. An example is when I engaged @atrupar regarding the issue of gender inequality reaffirming the point that the problem needs to be given the much attention it deserves. Getting noticed and getting feedback also depends on constant participation through tweets. I noticed, for example, @Aaron from his many tweets.
Differences or Similarities in the Tweets
There was a significant difference between the tweets posted on the two shows. The variations were majorly based on formality. As for the Comedy Central’s South Park, tweets seemed humorous with viewers freely expressing their feelings concerning the show. The audience did not seem to have developmental intents. The whole interaction was based on a fun experience.
On the other hand, the CNBC news generated serious and formal tweets with subjects such as gender equality propping up. These perspectives were accompanied by grievances, observations, and suggestions to the federal government and the general public. The CNBC news also attracted more reactions (444 tweets) as opposed to the Comedy Central show (48 tweets), implying that political issues gain public activity more. However, the comic show attracted more views (5891) as compared to the news (595).
My Overall Experience
My overall experience was amazing given it was my first time live tweeting. It was exciting learning new Twitter features and realizing I had more power to influence than I was e
