The Great Gatsby is an American Novel authored by F. Scott Fitzgerald in 1925, and a period marked by incredible lifestyle and culture change in America (DUBOSE 73-92). Fitzgerald develops several themes in its storyline. These themes include justice, power, greed, betrayal, and the American dream. Fitzgerald gives a clear picture of American life and how American society is divided following the world war. Among all the other themes in the novel, the most developed themes include the idea of the American dream, socioeconomic class, and love/marriage.
