Althusser's theory of interpellation suggests that subjects are recruited from the individuals. The individuals can also be transformed into subjects. Hailing is a practice subject that is carried out on a daily basis as a precise ritual. From this context, individuals represent the whole people in a particular organization or people who have applied for a specific job. The subjects are people drawn from individuals for recruitment. The people who have been recruited from the individuals are referred to as subjects. When the boss hails at his employees, they become the subjects.
The role of ideology is to provide convenience and clarity to the little theoretical theatre. Althusser has presented things in the form of a sequence that is before and after, which is the form of temporal succession. The author reiterates that by indulging in imagination. Althusser says that when individuals are walking along the way and suddenly they hear hailing sound, one of the individuals turns around suspecting that the hail is directed to them. In the real sense, the hail was not meant for anyone specific. This always happens without any succession. The one individual who has turned around is perceived as the subject.
