Grease payments are not acceptable whatsoever due to various reasons. Firstly, this is a form of corruption whose main aim is to influence decisions and unjustly gain favor from others against the set standards. Usually, the primary consequence of such action is hurting the economy. For instance, people may bribe to get employed even though they are not competent, a factor that negatively impacts the performance of an institution. Lack of proper management and carrying out of duties incompetently may lead to misappropriation of funds meant for development. Therefore there is no development within the affected sectors. Furthermore, grease payments have explicit negative impacts politically. It leads to poor leaders being unfairly let into political offices, unemployment and lack of accountability. Unemployment has detrimental effects which include the establishment of criminal groups, terrorists and increased crime, factors associated with low foreign investments and growth of businesses as well as public services.
On the other hand, this vice can lead to death or deterioration of health of individuals. In hospitals, demand for grease payments normally results in poor services to the public, a factor that may lead to death or disability.
