What is the biggest threat about terrorism, in the U.S. as of 2014?
In my opinion, the cyber-terrorism has been the biggest threat in the United Sates, in regard to terrorism. Cyber-terrorism has been on the rise in the United States and has posed a great threat to the national security. Cyber-terrorism is any calculated and politically motivated attack against computer systems, computer programs, information and data that results into physical violence or severe financial harmCITATION Wei04 \p 2 \l 1033 (Weimann 2). The possible targets for cyber-terrorism include government computers, power plants, the banking industry, air traffic control centers among others. According to the US president, Barrack Obama, the government has set cyber-terrorism a matter of priority. The move is as a result of a succession of Denial of Service (DOS) threats on state computers, and hacking attempts that have been witnessed in the CIA's major computer.
Do you believe that the American terrorist groups (American residents) pose a severe threat to the U.S.?
Yes. Domestic terrorism poses a serve threat in the U.S. The reason behind is because there have been series of attacks in the U.S alleged to be terrorist attacks. There have been reports that American terrorist groups have been endangering the lives of American citizens and intimidating civilians. These American terrorist organizations have carried out terrorist attacks within the region resulting to loss of lives and property. These terrorist domestic terrorist attacks are claimed to have been inspired by outside forces from Al Qaeda, Yemen, Africa and other regions around the worldCITATION Har14 \p 1 \l 1033 (Harress 1). The U.S government has put the issue into consideration after several arrests made in connection with domestic terrorism. Some incidences of domestic terrorism include the failed bomb attack of the New York City subway in 2009, and the detonation of explosives in a S.U.V, in Times Square.
Has the capture/death of Osama Bin Laden made the world a safer place with regard to terrorism?
No. The death of Al Qaeda leader, Osama Bin Laden, has been one of the key United States' milestones in combating terrorism, in the world. By contrast, the death of Osama Bin Laden did not put the terrorism issue to rest. There have various terrorist groups around the world who worked in concert with the leader of Al Qaeda militant group. Al Qaeda leader, Osama bin laden, was responsible for myriad terrorist attacks where thousands of people lost their lives. One of the brutal terrorist attacks was the 9/11 attack that claimed thousands of innocent lives. The death of the Al Qaeda leader was favorably received by the United States government and other nations albeit other groups and individuals such as Fidel CastroCITATION Wei04 \p 8 \l 1033 (Weimann 8). Therefore, with the death of Osama bin laden, the world has not been safe rather susceptible to retaliatory terrorist attacks.
