Many women do not negotiate. There are so many factors that scare women from negotiating. For instance, many have the belief of inferiority. While many still get contents with the little, they receive from them male counterparts. On benefits, women should ask as it is fundamental to their development. I am concerned about this topic, and I will put forth a negotiation to outline factors that contribute to women negotiation failure, results, and solutions.
It is clear that women are created to be nicer. Negotiations tend to surpass the boundary of women nature. Regardless of the situation, women tend to avoid negotiation since it lowers their dignity and trait. This character makes women lurk behind as compared to men. For instance, men can earn more than women by negotiating for salary rise yet women cannot. The result of women failure in negotiation especially in work setting tresses its source on the personality and history that contributes to their trait of being nicer (Lewicki, Barry and Saunders 553).Besides, women tend to suffer when they put up a negotiation involving a fundamental aspect of life such as salary increase. For instance, if a woman portrays a very firm stand on matters regarding an increase in salary, she may end up losing a job and finding it hard to be re-employed. The competition for jobs in the current economy is high, and the rate of reemployment is declining. Such factors make women avoid negotiation to maintain their current work. The result of being loyal in such situation is reduced morale due to low pay, more labor, and fear.
Our society and tradition also play a significant role in modern women. Despite the fact that many are discovering their foot, many are still in the ancient slavery of believing that men are hard fighters but women are good listeners and followers (Lewicki, Barry and Saunders 553). The result of such belief is a digression, failure and poor result as women feel inferior in fundamental aspects that influence their well-being.
Many people may argue that failure of women in negotiation is due to ignorant, but that’s not true. The truth is that women have generational responsibilities and challenges that cannot permit them to be involved in the hard negotiations. Taking part in improving women courage has fundamental importance rather than taking advantages of their negotiation weaknesses. For instance, it will enhance their production rate, family stability, and their health. Why should women ask?
There are so many reasons why modern women should negotiate. One of the reasons is that both men and women have nearly the same level of right in current society; women should not hesitate to ask and claim their fundamental right both economic and politically. Nowadays, women can make judgments, they can also reject what is wrong or what Violet their beliefs hence they should not keep themselves locked in ancient slavery. Modernity has increased the power women poses and therefore it gives them the power to negotiate their position in the society activities (Lewicki, Barry and Saunders 553).Many women surrender easily while negotiating with men, particularly on economic matters. It is true that one cannot access more benefits without negotiating for it in our current society. Women should be quick in claiming their position in an organization and society to obtain more benefits like men. Consider a situation when both male and female employees receive same payment per month but men feel like it is not enough and goes ahead to negotiate for salary raise. As a result of that all men are added salary since they asked. Over a few years to come it is clear that men in such organization will be much ahead financially as compared to women.
Asking is also essential in society and gender advancement. Through negotiating, women can improve their leadership role and improve their well-being. Many times women fear to negotiate their way to leadership, and that’s why their number in leadership is still small. Failure in the leadership role starts very early in women life, that’s why even in university leadership only a few of them turn up for the top seat. This is a clear indication that women fear to ask and claim their position in challenging situations. Asking in leadership is essential since it determines the overall improvement in women well-being especially in an institution. Besides that, it gives them the power to voice their...
