Blacks for Blacks Movement (BBM) Manifesto (Essay Sample)

Instructions:

The 1960s was more than hippies and rock n roll, it was an amalgam of anger, hostility and ideology drawing from the vestiges of colonialism and the Cold War. Many groups issued manifestos outlining their grievances with the world, and what they intended to do about it. History was often an integral aspect of their manifesto. For your paper, pick a prominent issue NOW and write/create/produce a manifesto (equivalent of a 6-8 page paper). Your manifesto must draw from real events and figures of the past, must delineate a clear argument against a group for a specific reason, and offer solutions to those problems. You will be graded on the proper historical context, style, creativity, and clarity. You must use sources to make an historical argument. A minimum of 8 sources from you which to draw your reasoning as to why you want to create a revolution

Blacks for Blacks Movement (BBM) Manifesto
Our Lives, Our Rights
VISION
As young black people in America, we demand to live in a nation where we don’t always have targets on our backs; where our rights, choices and ideas are respected; where we are not seen as criminals first and hardly ever innocent even if the facts say otherwise; where the people in blue don’t see us as their enemies; where the government doesn’t discriminate us and ensures the equitable distribution of resources and where we are given room and opportunities to realize our full potential and fuel us into transforming our communities and fostering sustainable change.
BACKGROUND
Blacks for Blacks Movement (BBM) was established in light of the increasing gap of racial inequality in America. The movement is vehemently aggrieved and angered by the Supremacist structures that characterize racist oppressors and which they die upholding. It is over 200 years since the US attained its independence and the constitution detailing the freedoms and rights of all Americans was established. The US Constitution is a powerful document that recognizes all Americans as equals regardless of their race, gender, religion and age (Schwartz 280).
