Various forms of terrorism have continued to terrify people worldwide (Terrorism Studies Free Book). Traditional triggers and influencers of war and conflict happen to be the same factors that have helped the evolution and spread of terrorism. As long as society exists, different cultures, classes and governments, and ideologies, terrorism will always emerge in different ways and perspectives.
Altheide, 2006 indicates that the government’s prioritization of crime and how it will have to be dealt with is a significant contributor towards fear in any country. The government has always had to combat crime and terrorism at times, making it popular and feared in a country. The average US citizen is safer than early within the century (Altheide, 2006). American television has dramatically relied on violent action to entertain its viewers. It translates into fear in the country, with the government playing a part through media ownership. Terrorists have realized the utilization of the media to instill fear within the society; therefore, they have utilized the media effectively to brainwash, recruit and instill fear. The age of the internet is now within every society’s reach; globalization too has contributed to the spread of terror ideologies worldwide. Altheide, 2006 illustrates that nearly 30% of the news reporting in the USA involves crime reporting. Terrorists have found a way to utilize the already created fear, use the media, and propagate their ideologies.
