How and why did the Industrial Revolution spread to the rest of Europe after 1815?
Introduction
The industrial revolution was a period of development and transformed the agrarian and rural societies in Europe and Africa into urban and industrialized ones. The revolution spread when goods crated by hands were being produced massively in factories after introducing new techniques and machines in iron making, textiles, and other industrial crafts. The industrial revolution occurred due to the availability of steamboats and railroads. There was also the production of canals shifting the commercial and industrial centers of the nation to various parts of the USA(Kelly and Cormac 4590). The overall process created large-scale textile production, the invention of water frames, spinning mules and flying shuttles. Additionally, there was an economic impact from the advancement in communication, transport, power availability, and other industrial growth avenues.
The revolution was a game changer fueled by the use of steam as power. The revolution initiated in Britain and spread to the rest of the world. A more significant industrial growth was evaded in the US as it had resources that led to railroads development in 1869. The railroads led to the opening of agricultural industries as well as mineral industrial in Mississippi.
Steam power
In the 1700s, Thomas designed the first steam engine used as a power machine for pumping water out of mines. In 1760 a water condenser was introduced in the steam engine, improving its efficiency. Later, a steam engine was invented, an important innovation that allowed the spread of steam power across industries such as cotton mills, papers, and flour. The demand for coal increased due to the need for cheap energy throughout the revolution to run industrial hence increased production (Bottomley 510).
Transportation
Transportation is one means that helped the spread of the industrial revolution, Britain's roads network had substantial improvement, and over 2000 miles of canals were used in 1815. Richard Trevithick invented a steam power engine in the 1800s and 1830, and a similar engine started passer transport in Liverpool and Manchester hence improving businesses.
Improvement of life
The process of the industrial revolution accelerated the movement of people from rural areas to the cities. The industrialization process turned small towns into big cities within decades, providing jobs and employment. The growth of the industrial improved the standards of living of the people and increased the economic output for the upper and middle classes (Zhang 124).
