All through the course of history, there have been many naval wars like The Battle of the Trafalgar in October 1805 which consisted of an ocean war between the Royal British Navy and the communal fleet of the Spanish and French Navy all through the napoleon reign. Moreover, the Sino-Japanese War of the year 1894 to 1895 which was fought between. The Meiji Japan and Qing Dynasty China, mainly over the control of Korea. On the other hand, the Pearl Harbour according to Prange, Donald & Katherine (2011), claims that it was among the most bold and intelligent naval attack of all time and it was one of the altering points in the course of history. Seventy five years ago on 7 December 1941 at around 7:55 am, the Japanese strike force released 352 warplanes on the Pearl Harbour which was the United States’ Pacific Fleet base in Oahu, Hawaii. The relations between Japan and the United States had been detonating- Japan had attacked China in the year 1937 and then in the year 1940, it allied itself with Germany and Italy- but the attack was still a shock and surprise. Within minutes, most of the Pacific Fleet has been ruined, more than 2200 Americans were murdered as a result of the surprise attack. There was nothing as tragically anticipated and self-image destructive had occurred to the country in its 170 years. The attack could have simply been prevented if the US did not ignore or underestimate Japan’s strengths and abilities to attack the Pearl Harbour. This paper aims at discussing how the Pearl Harbour was an unavoidable tragedy caused by racial stereotypes and the lack of military imagination and intelligence to predict or counter such a planned attack was proof of failing to prevent this tragedy.
