Introduction
Global terrorism has been on the rise especially after the inception of ISIS in 2014. Notably, the emergence of the group in 2014 has resulted in the introduction of unprecedented magnitude of threats to the international community. The rise of ISIS seems to be eclipsing other terror groups such as AL-Qaeda owing to its growing influence. ISIS has demonstrated expertise in utilizing modern technology particularly the social media to extend its territorial control, vast possessions, perceptiveness, viciousness and barbarism. Accordingly, the group presents a new version of radicalism and extremism to the world. Governments have applied approaches including counter-offensive techniques such as airborne bombings and ground warfare on several fronts. Despite the moves, ISIS continues to survive demonstrating its vigorous and disastrous competencies with assaults in various republics as well as spreading its impact globally. Reviewing the history of ISIS and understanding the link between terrorism and political violence worldwide is crucial in comprehending the ideologies of the group and the analysis of its success or failure.
