The History of World-Wide-Web
World Wide Web was invented in 1989 and the person behind invention was Tim Berners- Lee. Being a software engineer participated in laboratory practicals in Geneva which is based at Switzerland. Tim Berners- Lee worked at European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) where they could share information with other scientists. It was difficult to get the correct result after trying to connect millions of computer so that they could share the data that was send to the computers. Berners –Lee together with Robert Cailliau in 1990 had to come up with a proposal that was fully documented and was to be termed as World Wide Web. The proposal was to be submitted to CERN which was to be exchanged to the other entire scientist since it had a certain technologies that was about to make it possible for individual to be able to access internet. The proposal that was submitted was not accepted but later in the same year 1990 in October Tim Berners –Lee came up with three fundamental technologies that kept legacy up to date. The tree fundamental technologies that were used are the one that are used currently. Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) this meant that individuals could be able to format any document and later link it to another document. Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) allowed the resources which were linked together to be retrieved easily to all the networked millions computers. Lastly Tim ended with Uniform Resources Identifier (URI) which allowed all the documents uniquely being indentified and thus easier to retrieve in case of search. In 1991 Paul Jones of Carolina was able to retrieve a copy of text plan from Berners –lee and thus it was officially made publicly that web was a service which could be used on the internet.
One of the effects of world-wide-web is that individuals are able to communicate for example in 1950s when Department of Defense needed away of communication which was secure and deliver information in a fast manner between different military units. Since the technology had immerged then they were able to communicate effectively though it was not effective as it is today. The second effect is that web is part and parcel of our daily lives since individuals can not do without web due to email...
