Current times require a lot of caution and heeding to History and its lessons as far as the present is concerned. There are terms and new words that have found a way into our daily norms because of the current COVID 19 pandemic, which has led to a worldwide lifestyle change. Whenever History repeats itself, we often get caught off guard (Foege). The current situation on handling the COVID 19 Virus is lessons learned from pandemics that wiped out masses of people. What are the crucial mistakes that we find ourselves making that lead to a virus spreading worldwide within a brief span? Smallpox hit the world and claimed approximately 500 million victims over the years before doctors and researchers found a vaccine solution. We have witnessed first-world countries getting frustrated, recording peak numbers of up to 5000 deaths on a daily average (Aguirre). What lessons have we learned from past pandemics, and how many more people are we willing to lose so that we can learn from our past mistakes?
