The Towering Figure of American Politics
Since Arthur Schlesinger's Historians Rate U.S Presidents survey results, political historians have rated presidents. In the 1996 survey, Andrew Jackson earned the fourth spot in the Great President's pantheon among the six highest-ranked presidents, trailing Washington, Lincoln, and Thomas Jefferson (Thies 82). While critics may doubt that the ranking involves rankers' implicit values, it is difficult to reject these results as they are based on critical parametric scrutiny. To receive a mention in the list of the greatest is no mean feat – and Andrew Jackson did so; he is a political icon. Andrew Jackson is a political colossus for socio-political sanitization and economic wit in American political history.
