The History of the Computer Mouse
While most of us use a computer mouse every day, few people have bothered to know the history of this genius gadget. Since its invention, the computer mouse has become such an essential gadget in our office, making working with computers much more comfortable. The mouse is used to shift the cursor to whatever area of the computer's screen-area user desires. It enables one to easily and quickly refer to a point on the computer screen. The mouse allows one to perform most basic computer operations such as selecting, copy-pasting, and many other which got to do using a keyboard; this saves time as one need not to memories all the keyboard commands.
In the 1960s, with the help of his colleagues at the Stanford Research Institute, Douglas Engelbart invented what would become the first computer mouse (Pang 54). Since then, the mouse has gone through several technological advancements to become what we see today. Currently, most computer manufacturers consider including mouse ports in their computers. However, today wireless mouse is trendy. These advancements include physical changes, the enhancement of various features and modifications. This paper will discuss the journey in modification and improvement the computer mouse has gone through since its invention to become the refined mouse used today.
