Use of Internet at Work
The issue of limiting employees from accessing the internet while at work has been rendered unethical in the post. However, it is still not yet understood why it is unethical to limit the employees from doing so. There are various reasons why it is rendered as unethical. The first reason is privacy. Trust fosters the relationship between staff members and employers. When an employee notices that the organization is monitoring his or her usage of internet at work, he/she will automatically assume that the employer has no trust in him or her. This will in turn reduce the employee motivation resulting to poor standards of output.
The second reason that makes the limit unethical is that it will minimize the freedom of employees. Employees should not face strict rules that make them feel inferior in the organization. Reducing the freedom of employees will make them feel discriminated and therefore unwilling to give their best to the organization. The third reason is that the privacy of employees will be jeopardized. With the laws limiting the use of the internet by employees at work, it will imply that they will be monitored on how they use the internet.
