The debate around outlawing boxing has been discussed for a very long time with both World Medal Association as well as the British Medical Association emphasizing on the need to ban boxing. The paper, therefore, brings into perspective the rationale of why boxing should be outlawed. Annually, a professional boxer and an amateur pass on during matches or afterwards because of the injuries they get (Julia and Friedrich, 722). There are also professionals such as Michael Watson whom boxing has rendered disabled for their whole life. Additionally, boxing can cause permanent brain damage and other diseases like Parkinson’s disease. The danger and risk of boxing thus oblige the Medical Associations to recommends its ban to reduce the injuries and ultimately deaths.
Secondly, boxing highly exploits the youth and at times the women (Julia and Friedrich, 722). In this regard, some boxers start at a very early age like before ten years. Such children get less time to focus on their education and cannot as well make informed decisions concerning the risks they are exposed to later in life. Such boxers train for more extended hours while anticipating better coaching and more revenues thereby getting into more competitions to earn more.
