Maternal Instinct
Almost every person can now understand that in most cases, there exists a strong bond between a child and the parents, especially the mothers. However, there is a societal assumption or convention that all the women are naturally or biologically programmed in such a way that they want to have children and simultaneously being innately set to have a higher capability to protect and care for the child. Maternal instincts may be said to involve the natural predisposition that a mother has to display certain behaviors or reactions in a given manner when dealing with her child or children (Blackstone). I opine that the concept of maternal instinct does not exist naturally and that the whole idea is based on social or cultural beliefs instead of scientific evidence.
