Movie and video game violence.
It is quite evident that recently every mass media has its own setback. Movies and video games are among components of mass media that are associated with violence. Teens and children have apparently fallen into the trap of indulging in the violent video game as well as movies which heighten the need to create awareness of their effect. An example of violent video games includes Call of Duty where the main player kill other people. A thought runs a person’s mind that before the player plays the game, he/she has some problem for instance resentment. To assist the parents in protecting the children from engaging in the violent media, the United States, for example, has forced the companies associated with the creation of movie and video game to take responsibility by creating their own rating system thus the creation of Entertainment Software Rating Board (Ferguson, 2015). But the real question is whether movies and video game violence have effect on the young generation?
Increased feelings of hostility have been contributed by movie and video game violence. When children involve themselves in watching these games and videos, they become prone to incorrect thinking leading to stress as well as bad behaviour. In return, it influences their growth as their emotional aspect is intoxicated leading to lack of sleep, stress and anxiety and eventually generates emergence of disease. A mental disorder can also be contributed to media violence which later results to children abandoning their education. Thus media violence becomes a catalyst to risky behaviour among children and teens. The statistic shows that most children with extensive view of violent movie and game have aggressive thought and behaviours (Carnagey, et al, 2007).
Media violence has also led to views which are more, so children to become less sensitive to pain and existence of an attitude of less care about people around them (Ferguson, 2015). When children are exposed to many videos watching and playing violent games, they get possess a feeling to know everything. For example when kids watch movie with murdering themes then an image of killing remain in their minds thus creating absence of humanity in them that may later lead to crime. Thus media violence may trigger them to become more violent and care less about people around them.
It should also be noted that, media violence has led to its justification as a way of living which becomes a predicament in the real life situation. Some researcher suggests that children and young people become product of violence as they embrace and practice it. An example of the American war in Vietnam created images of use of guns, bombs, nuclear weapons, rapes among other inhuman acts horrible acts on humankind as heartlessness among children watching these scenes. Watching one’s people die for young people can lead to the individual waiting till they have the full range of power and utilize to violence behaviour (Grossman, et al, 2009).
