Galileo’s Biblical Interpretation
Galileo has a profound knowledge on discerning between what the bible tells and interpretations by science concerning nature. In his argument he points that science and bible have varying ideas on existence and movement of the earth or sun. it is proven beyond doubt by science that the earth moves round the sun. From the bible, scriptures are highlighted whereby the sun remains in motion as the earth is immovable. Galileo affirms that the bible is a tool that does not error as far as giving information is concerned. But with regard to this argument, it would be imprudent to believe in words that does not follow what we observe.
Moreover, Galileo points that the bible should not be taken seriously due to factors that contradict what nature provides. First, it attributes God’s qualities as remote, which is contrary to his essence. In fact, God’s principal has been set aside, and the bible has rigorously confined itself in explaining about the existence of live without the concern of the primary source. In his view, Galileo notes that following the bible to the later may make one to fall into error.
However, Galileo demonstrates how understanding physical existence is as a result of divine help from God. He affirms that physical existence has connections with God, because he would certainly not deny us ability to understand physical matters. In this regard, Galileo has a sense in existence of the Supreme Being as explained in the bible, that is, God.
