A Shift from Modernism to Postmodernism
On a critical stature, modernism is a form of thinking that is believed to have begun during the renaissance period. During this period; 20th century, enlightenment was evident since all traditional ideas and principles were subject to rejection. As such, modernism as a philosophical term searched for a unitary perspective to would disapprove the subjective and irrational was of thinking of man. This stature supported individual ideologies on issues such as religious configuration and beliefs. No person was forced to accept any given ideology because it is religious in nature. People viewed self-consciousness based on the capability to criticize an idea before attaining the ultimate conclusion.
In modernism, people had the freedom to make choices without any form of external interference. Such decision was subject to identification, evaluation, understanding and criticizing. Truth was not just accepted because it seems true but was based on the evident reasons which were fundamental and foundational facets which formed it (Panuccio, 2011). In the modern era, Karl Max (1818-1883), Sigmund Freud (1856-1939) and Charles Darwin (1809-1882) had influence as a result of their criticality and independent form of thing. The sub consciousness aspect of human mind was invented by Freud. This was the superego aspect which assists in analyzing the way in which people think. In other words, it analyzes the extend of correctness in someone’s thinking.
