Introduction
We are living in a techno-savvy world where recording live events as they unfold is no longer a hassle. Law enforcement departments have embraced the use of body cameras to capture daily occurrences as the officers go about their routine tasks. Body cameras are audio-visual recording gadgets usually clipped or mounted on a strategic part of the officers clothing so that they can cover many incidences possible without raising any suspicion from the public. This paper discusses the use of body cameras for law enforcement, their pros and cons as well as the problems that the program is likely to encounter.
Use, Pros and Cons of Body Cameras
Body cameras are small in size and light in weight for easy portability and to avoid suspicion. In most cases only the lens of the camera is exposed while the rest of the device is concealed. The recording of the cameras are downloaded directly into a central computer system for filing and storage to prevent loss or alteration of the recorded information (Harris 362). High tech cameras are used to enable recording of high quality videos even at night.
