Gay marriage has a significant harm to the individuals involved. Gay marriage refers to a marital union between people of the same sex. Majority of the effects are on the individuals married and these can be classified based on lifestyle, psychological and health categories. They suffer psychological effects such as depression, lifestyle effects such as promiscuity and shortened life span, the health effects include expose to diseases.
Gay marriage poses depression to the partners. A study conducted in the United Kingdom asserts that approximately half of the gay partners develop depression and this often results in drug abuse when compared to the other members of the population. Moreover, the depression results in high increase in the suicidal actions. According to the study findings, the lifespan of these partners is often lower compared to heterosexuals (Josephson, 269).
