Russia’s Invasion of Ukraine
For this assignment, I chose the topic of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
The dispute involved two countries, Russia and Ukraine, as Russia forces occupied a Ukraine region- The Crimean peninsula. It is also important to note the involvement of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization as Ukraine is a member country that forms the organization. Countries like the United States of America have also been involved with the European Union as they got at odds with Russia after an attack on a Malaysian Airline flight that was shot down when traversing Ukrainian airspace. All the 298 occupants on board were killed. France and Germany have also been involved as they attempted to broker a cessation in violence between Russia and Ukraine through the Minsk Accords.
Two heads of states were significant in this event, the Ukrainian president and the Russian president. Viktor Yanukovych, the Ukraine president, made amendments in the government that caused chaos as he was against Pro-western relationships with European countries. An uprising ensued, causing chaos. Russia's President Vladimir Putin had interests in a section of Ukraine. After he could not get by through his ally Yanukovych, he deployed the Russian military in the Crimean Peninsula, where they occupied key buildings in the region. The annexation of the Crimerian peninsula by Russia triggered an international outcry by the United
