Social Justice Issues Affecting Women
Women have been victims of many social injustices across Asia, Middle East, and Africa over decades. Research carried out in the three continents indicates that many women are languishing in poverty, disease, prostitution and gender based violence (Halpern, 89-123). This has led to the establishment of organizations whose primary aim is to champion women rights and justice (Kaldor, 583-593). Thus, the teams play a huge role in campaigning against norms that hold women back in their struggle for success in life. Many studies also reveal that the three continents lead in cases relating to gender based violence (Elson, 37). For instance, women in countries that are faced with civil war, are the most affected victims as they are raped, killed and forced labor. Therefore, the organizations are in the forefront to better women lives in various ways as discussed below.
Some organizations were formed to empower and give financial support to women since they are the pillars of the modern society. Therefore, they involve women in training that are geared to give them valuable life skills. Then later, they give them funds to establish businesses so that they can become financially stable. Also, the societies ensure that women get access to decent health care (Connell1, 675-1683). This is crucial as it helps to curb diseases among those women that cannot afford to pay for their heath bills. The other important role that these groups play is encouraging women to apply and vie for elective positions (Joseph, and Susan, 67-113). They aim at breaking traditional barriers that barred women from leading (Metcalfe, 85-100). With this sensitization, we have seen many women excelling in different fields as good and better leaders as compared to men.
