Non renewable energy such as fossil has grievous impact on the environment. For decades, however, non-renewable energy has been predominantly used in the United States without the exception of San Diego County. Energy in the County is supplied by San Diego Gas & Electric that has 68% of it energy coming from non-renewable sources. Owing to the extent to which fossil fuels have and will deplete the environment, it is time that there is further shift towards the renewable energy sources. Renewable energy refers to the energy that is fueled by natural phenomena such as wind, water/steam and the sun. This paper focuses on the advantages and disadvantages of hydropower and solar power in a bid to explain how viable they are in the liberation of our environment.
To begin with it is important to note that the two sources of energy are readily available in San Diego and they are being produced by companies that sell it to San Diego Gas & Electric. Hydro energy and solar energy are sustainable sources of power since they cannot be depleted. The sun rises almost daily while the water to run the turbines is present in the region.
