Instructions:

In 1983, avant-garde novelist, playwright, and poet Samuel Beckett famously wrote the following: "Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail Better." Many people in the years since have embraced Beckett's words as valuable advice for those seeking to improve their skills in any realm. Explain your interpretation of what Beckett meant and how you believe his advice might apply to the editing/revising process for writers. Using Thonney's global/local distinction from this week's reading, explain how revising differs from editing. Over the course of today's chapter, Thonney lays out a lot of suggestions/tips and questions to ask oneself when editing and revising academic writing assignments. Summarize one of these pieces of advice and explain why you find it particularly helpful or illuminating. What piece of advice would you give to another student when it comes to editing and revising a piece of academic writing? This should be something that Thonney did not mention

Editing and revision have always been used interchangeably over the years and yet there is a distinction between them. Editing involves addressing the problems which includes punctuation, grammar or even word choice while revising deals with the entire paper as a whole. It focuses on the weakness, strengths, ar...
