CRITIQUE OF ERICKSON’S CONDITION UNITY Student Name Course Number: Course Name Due Date Introduction Evolution and better know-how in life affect several aspects of religious theories. In the past, there was minimal Christian theology on the Bible teachings but time and advancement of human intellectual capabilities have made most of these ancient ideologies to be revised hence the production of second editions on the doctrines. Most of these changes differ at some point hence creating so much confusion in the Cristian ideas towards faith and teachings in the Bible especially the identity and purpose of man in the society. It is quite absurd that there are various denominations of Christianity, and they all have different and separate beliefs and teachings when it comes to faith and love towards God’s creation. They also suffer from the extensive explanation and evidence of life after death and also the presence of hell. Though the Bible creates a definite distinction between right and sin, several theologians debate on the relationship between the body and soul hence the rise of various doctrines. The possibility of such discussions crops from the church doctrine teachings and an idea of uniting a denomination. Christian theology is one discipline very hard to understand; the main idea behind the argument is on its diverse denominations like the Catholics, Baptists, Anglicans, and Evangelists. These denominations have different doctrine teachings and beliefs hence creating different scholar research analysis when it comes to analyzing the Bible context. A good example is the Baptist and Evangelical theological interpretation of life, death, and resurrection. It is quite absurd that various personalities have the audacity to explain the purpose of man and how after death the same being will survive in the afterlife. An example is Erickson, a man with a different reasoning that tries to combine different denomination doctrines to explain life after death. His theology of Conditional Unity makes him outstanding among all his colleagues. But the main idea is that his context is very debatable since it has a number of limitations. Brief History and Literature Review It is very absurd on how a brilliant man like Erickson could venture and exploit a denomination that does not belong. The original idea on such a conclusion is the fact that he was born Swedish and inherited the Evangelistic denomination from his grandparents but over the years of his maturity he decided to focus on the Baptist denomination and also help in the analysis of its doctrines. Research states that Erickson being an intellectual he created the world where all his works relied on the research of other theologians like Henry and Carnell. These ideologies empowered him with enough know-how enabling him to create better and more reliable theories and theological concepts that attract readers to date. His work on the “New Theology Creation” is one of the best and most recognized articles that Erickson produced hence making him a controversial and most influential ideas of all times. His ideas are very distinct when it comes to his reasoning; he argues from a Baptist point of view but in the real sense, his works stretch to the horizon to the Evangelical belief and doctrines. He uses all the knowledge taught in Baptist and Evangelism to draw a single conclusion. But the funny part of his work that confuses is the fact that it is debatable in different aspects, hence making it kind of interesting since one can question the work of God. His theological reasoning is based on the Bible. He also helps in the distinction of belief and culture of an individual in different geographical locations and how faith relates to the different the situations and individuals. Being an author he also knows how to create new and reliable context from an old literal review. Also, there is the aspect of Conditional Unity. It is disappointing but at the same time fascinating on how humans relate in explaining God’s work and the context in the Bible. The most absurd question is on if it is right to claim conclusion about nature and also the life experience denied to all living beings on earth. Erickson’s knowledge on the Evangelical and Baptist doctrine helps him in the twisting, analyzing, and interpreting the life after the death of a true Christian as a “Conditional Unity”. There are fewer arguments on such ideology, but the disappointing aspect of the idea and expression is on its cons rather than the ability to exploit faith and teach the same on the respective denominations. Erickson’s decision on Conditional Unity makes him a prominent member in the history books since logically since his idea was brilliant but physically it is absurd. Erickson’s Conditional Unity Having the ability of analysis and interpretation Erickson is celebrated to date because of his theories and the manner to which he arrived at the conclusions. Conditional Unity is one of Erickson’s work and majorly one of the most appreciated of all the Christian doctrines. The most convenient medium of expressing once the belief is by placing oneself on the others norms and policies. Erickson was Evangelistic but his abilities to provide better means of understanding the Biblical context he had to shift and become a Baptist and through the denomination, his work spread globally hence grabbing the attention of several scholars. The restrictive law was not constructed by rumors but facts that helped in the decision to term body and soul as one item during earthly life and also after the resurrection. The most available actions in his doctrines are all about the existence of the brain and hope since one can utilize them and make them productive. The idea of the creation and analysis of Conditional theory marks the best and most difficult steps that Erickson used. Since he was into theology, Erickson had the passion of collection books, and artifacts were biblically related hence advancing his with better knowledge on the context life and death. Also, these documents were from different denominations creating a chance for the better comparison on their religious practice and doctrine teaching over the generations. The main reason for the comparison was to arrive at a distinctive conclusion that supports all the theories of life and also the ones that explain eternal life. He also went beyond his boundaries in gathering information on common teaching related to the discipline having in mind culture and localities. Culture and locations describe so much about beliefs and religious facts on particular doctrines. The most interesting factor is the ability of Erickson to focus on research that extends the meaning and interpretation of the Biblical context and also how he used the information to enhance his position on the idea of Conditional Unity. All these research were Biblically based because the background was trying to explain the existence earthly and external life. The fact remains that Erickson is one of the many scholars that has made an impact on the creation and prediction of eternal life in faith. His belief is based on the idea that while alive the body and the soul are one but upon death the body and soul separates but the afterlife the two joins and continues with the prior existence of life. But with his high theory, various setbacks diminish the theory of the afterlife. Meaning of Conditional Unity Conditional Unity is a theological doctrine that explains the existence of man and tries to account for the existence of the afterlife with the limited explanation on hell. At the beginning of life, the body and the soul are one there is the limited conclusion on their separation, in short, a person is a body and mind. The condition is bound on earthly existence but upon death and the beginning of afterlife the material and immaterial separates; the main idea of the statement is the fact that the upon death the soul separates from the body. But after the resurrection the soul and the body reunites and the person continues life. The process of life is continuous since the individual continues life from that of the human one. Erickson’s position on Conditional Unity Erickson being a brilliant scholar and theologian creates a better and most responsible position on his new doctrine the Conditional Unity. He is unique on explaining on the existence of man. Through the Bible, in the book of Genesis, there is clear indication of Gods breath to enable the existence of man through His will and also the creation through his image. With the fact that God gave man life through His breath is a clear indication that for a person to exist the is the need for body and soul and if one misses that there is no possibility of a living being. His arguments stretch further on the existence of the afterlife. The life promised by God to the righteous. But on the doctrine, he explains that eternal life after resurrection does not only consist of the soul but the reunion of the body and mind after the earthly departure. These arguments are quite debatable but also has unyielding Biblical support hence making Erickson not to accept doctrines like monism, dichotomy, and trichotomy. Monism Erickson ideas and know-how conflicts the monism doctrine since it does not focus on the intermediate state and also brings out the idea that the body and soul are one. And if one is sleep so is the other one. Monism is a different doctrine with its roots based on science and also the Old Testament. It states that the body, soul, and spirit are one. It also metaphorically defines death as sleep. But the distinction is the aspect that while asleep it is just the body but not the soul. The ancient Christian authors of the doctrine lacked adequate knowledge in the past, but there are better revelations in the present principles. There is a better and more appropriate explanation for the e...
