Demonstration of an exemplary model is an inward act that is imperative in leadership. It aims at discovering personal beliefs and values and thus finding of leadership traits. This comprises of finding ways of expressing leadership philosophy in their words (Kouzes& Posner, 2014). They not only speak for themselves but also represent their organization and team. Exemplary leadership is about dialogue not about monologue and so leaders should stimulate a collaborative energy. Leaders should understand and appreciate the importance of their teammate and find a way to affirm shared values. Exemplary leaders forge spontaneously.
Exemplary leaders observe their beliefs and reflect their rigidity on actions. They also ensure that people adhere to the set rules and regulations within the work environment (Hackman & Johnson, 2013). For instance, a manager who is new in the positions uses trial and error method leadership to make a change and be an excellent plant that comes through exemplary leadership.
Unity in a discussion is a fundamental factor in exercising excellent leadership whereby all levels are involved in making decisions. For example, Steve the manager intended to make tremendous strides in housekeeping around the site in making his company an excellent plant. He debated on the defining characteristics of desirable plants and supported a strong culture of security and excellent housekeeping should be at a high level (Brown &Treviño, 2006). The manager observed that the housekeeping situation at the company did not resemble the company’s shared vision. He started a cleaning process to achieve high standards of hygiene to achieve the business’s vision
Ensuring him or her use of the right questions in a meeting is essential. A good leader should be an example to other by ensuring him or she only asks a relevant question concerning a particular situation. In the case of an interview, such leaders with on concentrate on the ability of the applicant to deliver on the responsibility enhance adding value to the organization rather than other unnecessary personal issues that may result in harassment (Brown &Treviño, 2006). Such question helps to clarify on the applicant ability to share value making the organization better by providing the evidence of the applicant's ability to make the right decision.
Ensures that he or her Seeks feedbacks. Leaders should ensure they have behavioral credit and they do not only communicate but also ensure what they planned is later implemented fully (Kouzes& Posner, 2014). Usually done by providing the taking part in the full implementation and provision of the desired results. They should further be in the leading example in the hence motivating other workers. Leaders are should be self-aware of what they have accomplished. Feedbacks promote trust and communication is further improved.
