I am going to take you about the causes and barriers of puppy mills. According to the humane society of the U.S puppy mill are factory specifically for the breeding of puppies and are mainly concerned with gaining profit without putting into consideration about their welfare. Puppy mills are no concerned about the general well-being of the dogs, and you find that the expose them to unsafe conditions in that the dogs are living in bad conditions, they do not get medical attention, and the dogs generally lack their basic needs (Stopping Puppy Mills, 2019). It is the responsibility of the pet stores to ensure they give dogs in their stores a fair treatment. Potential buyers see puppies in the display and have the urge of owning them without knowing the dangers the dogs are exposed. The main challenge with the stores is that they do not carry out treatment of animals which means that they will be subject to various health hazards. Buyers can end up buying infected dogs which will bear an extra burden to them. Puppy mills were first brought on board after World War II; farmers opted to do this as an alternative source of income due to reduced productivity of farms. Puppy mills have therefore gained popularity over the recent past and has proved to be a serious source of income.
