In our daily life we are often managing projects that may range from construction, logistics, seminars and or conferences. To be able to run our projects successifully, we must be aware of the critical success factors of project management. Since projects are hectic, and the sea of tasks to be performed, priorities to be achieved, and deliverables to be made, a project manager can easily lose focus and forget these critical success factors for any project management. This article is therefore a an examination of the 5 key success fators every project manager needs to use inorder to succeed I project management (Herath, & Chong, 2021).

Message #1

Setting and Agreeing on Project Goals
The project manager should ensure that the management, the teams, the sponsors, and other stakeholders hae agreed on the purpose and goals of the project. For instance, it should be clear to them what problem(s) the projects seeks to solve, and what outcomes the projects seeks to achieve. The project goals should be SMART, tha is Secific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. The project scope must be clearly defined by these SMART objectives, and then it is the role of the project manager to ensure that these goals are understood by all the stakeholders.

Message #2

Develop Clearly Defined Plans
Clearly defined plans with responsibilities and accounterbilities should then be developed. In this plan, all the deliverables should be clearly defined along with the appropriate tasks that should be prformed in order to produce them, and any associated risks clearly identified. Responsibilities should be clearly assigned to the tasks and deliverables with appropriate deadlines and associated accounterbilities clearly spelled out. A well written out project schedule should accompany this plan (Kavishe, & Chileshe, 2018).

Message #3

Management of The Scope
The project amanger should then manage the scope of the project effectively. The project scope as defined in the setting of goals and planning phase may change with time, but any changes must be evaluated and communicated effectively with all the stakeholders, with the effect they may have on the budget and schedules. Managers also need to strategize on how the changes can be tracked. The core activity of the project manager is that of managing the scope.

Message #4

Constant Effective Communication
The project manager needs to cultivate constant communication with all the stakeholders. Communication channels need to be established to inform stakeholders of the progress of the project. For instance, management and sponsors require regular status updates while suppliers and clients may require statements of work, contracts, and progress reviews. The project teams on the other hand may require regular assignments and briefings. The frequency and types of communication channels must be clearly defined and managed. This communication plan must be incorporated in the project plan, and communication executed regularly as defined. Poor communication is a lethal disease to project success.

Message #5

Management support
The project manager must ensure that he/she has plenty of this support. When agreeing on clearly set and measurable project goals, all stakeholders must also agree on the importance of the project, and how it will add value to the business, as well as solve a pressing problem. If management do not understand the importance of the project, it will be very difficult to solicite their support. It is therefore important to sensitize all stakeholders about the project plan to receive maximum support. Lack of management support can greatly hinder project success ( Ferreira, et al.2022)
