His Hawaiian Excellency is a book that describes unusual historical occurrences in Hawaiʿi. On reading the story, I was able to discover various things concerning the development of the Hawaiian Monarchy as well as the legality of its overthrow. The overthrow has resulted in a massive impact in the country, especially on its economic progress. As I closely follow the unfolding of the events, I found it difficult on whether to base my views on the historical interpretation and accuracy or on literary merit. There are various scenes in the story filled with loyalty, conspiracy, opportunism, duty, hate and love, comedy, and tragedy.
